We attended the opening night performance of ELF THE MUSICAL at Derby Dinner Playhouse this week and I highly recommend it as THE SHOW your family needs to make sure they see this holiday season!

Running through December 31, 2019, you are going to want to secure tickets ASAP because it is adorable and will sell out for sure.  For ticket information please call 812-288-8281 or visit https://derbydinner.com/show/elf-the-musical/

This musical adaptation of the beloved holiday film has all the humor and heart of the movie, but with added songs and holiday production numbers!  ELF is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole.  Buddy is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.  With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and his stepbrother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

My boys were intrigued by the play the entire evening and the audience was kept laughing just as much as one does when they watch the movie.  David Hussey in the title role was spectacular.  He embraced every aspect of Buddy the Elf and was so lovable.  We also loved J.R. Stuart as Santa, the kids loved it when his sleigh went up and down!  The costumes were phenomenal.  The level of detail in all of the elves costumes was impeccable.

Derby Dinner’s production was directed by Lee Buckholz with musical direction by Scott Bradley and choreography by Heather Paige Folsom.  Based upon the New Line Cinema film written by David Berenbaum, ELF THE MUSICAL was written by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin with music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin.

Embrace your inner elf this holiday season and make Derby Dinner Playhouse a family tradition with ELF THE MUSICAL!
