Green B.E.A.N. Delivery Review
Last week I was excited to receive my first Green B.E.A.N. delivery! Green B.E.A.N. is an organic food delivery service that brings fresh organic locally(when available) grown food to your door weekly or biweekly! When I was a kid, we had the milkman deliver milk and bread to our door each week. I was really excited to have the same thing with fresh produce!
When you sign up, you pick which size bin you want delivered each time, this is called your Standing Order. The weekend before your delivery, you will receive a list of what will be in your upcoming order and you have the option to change out items. Don't need any tomatoes this time? Change them out for some yummy strawberries! There are about 40 different kinds of produce available to choose from, as well as additional grocery items you can add on to your order.
When you receive your order, they place the items, each selection wrapped very carefully in plastic or paper bags, in an insulated cooler with an ice pack. This cooler is inside of a green plastic tote. You will sit this tote out each day of delivery. I was very impressed at how carefully everything was packed! The quality of the fruits and vegetables I received was amazing! I notice in the grocery stores that the organic section produce always looks a little sad. These green beans were big and crunchy, the strawberries were red and juicy!
The Green B.E.A.N. Delivery website also has a lot of recipes and food storage tips that you can use with your delivery!
Here is what I received with my $35 Small Bin order:
1 Bunch Carrots, Bunch
1 24 oz. Local Potatoes, Red and White Mix
2 Pound Green Beans
1 Each Peppers, Green Bell
1 Pint Tomatoes, Grape
1 Pound Berries, Strawberries
1 Pound Grapes, Sweet Sunshine - White
1 3 pcs. Bananas
1 Bunch Local Greens, Kale
1 8 oz. Local Lettuce, Spring Mix
The order was a little more than what I would pay at a regular grocery store. However, as a busy working mom, I don't always have the time to go to the grocery. With Green B.E.A.N. Delivery I can have fresh produce and fruit in the house at all times! I love delivery!
With this order, I made a pot roast with the carrots and potatoes, with my favorite Southern green beans. I also made a huge salad with the green pepper, grape tomatoes and spring mix. I ended up making Kale Soup with the greens and we had fresh fruit all week as a snack! We had enough leftovers to have meals for most of the week using meats I already had in the freezer! I love that I can change up the order each time for a variety of yummy recipes!
