Review

I had the ever-so-interesting experience of attending the Joan Rivers show this past Friday night and laughed so hard my sides hurt after the 2 hour show came to an end!

Even before the show began, Joan was making comments from a backstage microphone that left me in stitches.  There was a great opening act comedian who was local.  He did a great 20 minutes bit with many insider jokes about Kentucky and our slang!  It was such a great start to the overall evening.

Before we knew it, Joan Rivers herself was on stage and she came out in full force.  This certainly was not a show for those faint of heart, or anyone who has never heard a few cuss words in the past.  It was for sure meant for a mature audience.  Let me tell you though, to hear a woman in her 80's who knows how to tell it like it is, is nothing short of entertaining.  She pokes fun at many celebrities, audience members, and family, but mostly she also knows how to poke fun at herself.

Ms. Rivers is a force of nature – one of the hardest working celebrities in the world. An entertainment legend, Joan is an internationally renowned comedienne, Emmy-award-winning television talk-show host, Tony-award-nominated actress, bestselling author, playwright, screenwriter, film director, columnist, lecturer, syndicated radio host, jewelry designer, cosmetic-company entrepreneur, and red-carpet fashion laureate. Her continued relevance is made clear by her growing group of more than 1.5 million followers on Twitter. From her trademark question, “Can we talk?,” to her red-carpet inquiry, “Who are you wearing?,” the woman who asks all the right questions gets the answers America – and the world – want to hear.

The Kentucky Center presents many wonderful one-night shows like this throughout the year!  To find out about some of their upcoming shows, click here.
