Review

Derby Dinner Playhouse opened a fun new musical, LEGALLY BLONDE, this week and we were there for opening night!  The theater is decked out in hot pink streamers and you know you are in for a great night from the moment you walk in!

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL is much the same as the movie.  It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner.  She discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. Throughout the show no one has faith in Elle Woods, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.  This action packed musical is filled with memorable songs, dynamic dance numbers, and is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming!

The spunky cast is lead by Brooke Bauersfeld who plays Elle Woods.  She is a strong female character and you just fall in love with her!  Sara King brings comedy to the stage once more as she has done any times in the past, portraying Paulette, the sweet salon owner!  Brittany Carricato Cox, Billy Casey, Michael Luongo, Brian Bowman, and many more round out this vibrant cast, and the energy they all bring to the stage has you dancing and singing along!  The two pups steal the show when they are on stage, the Chihuahua and the Bulldog are adorable!
