Santa Safari at the Louisville Zoo!
December 8–9 & 15–16, 2018 - Sessions at 10: a.m Noon and 2 p.m.
Santa is making a special stop by the Louisville Zoo and he’s bringing some of his North Pole friends along too. Enjoy a visit and photo with Santa plus meet Mrs. Claus and Frosty the Snowman. Be part of Santa’s workshop where elves help families create a wonderful holiday craft. And of course, no visit would be complete without Mrs. Claus serving her famously delicious holiday treats and beverages (and hot chocolate or coffee for the grown-ups). Enjoy holiday sing-alongs and a complimentary photo with Santa for each child to take home. Then grab your special Santa Safari passport and begin your journey through the Zoo’s heated buildings to experience one-on-one interaction with Zoo educators. Don’t forget to bring your cameras!

IRVING BERLIN’S HOLIDAY INN at Derby Dinner Playhouse

Based on the movie with the same name, this spectacular musical only varies slightly from the original film. Jim Hardy leaves the bright lights of show business behind to settle down on his farmhouse in Connecticut. He quickly discovers life isn’t the same without a bit of song and dance. Jim’s luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday, from Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July. Filled with beautiful dances, costumes and plenty of romance!

Louisville Ballet presents The Sugar Plum Party
Join the children’s casts from The Brown-Forman Nutcracker for a magical afternoon of holiday fun and festivities at a pre-show Sugar Plum Party! Tickets are $25 per person and include food, drinks, photos with cast members, special art projects, and live entertainment.

Join Clara and the Nutcracker Prince as they battle the Rat Queen and travel to The Land of the Sweets in the holiday classicNutcracker in a Nutshell. Designed to delight audiences of all ages, Nutcracker in a Nutshell is a shorter, family-friendly version of the traditional Nutcracker ballet. MAGIC Dance Company, Louisville’s premier youth dance company, will perform Nutcracker in a Nutshell at the magnificent Louisville Palace Theater on December 1st at 2:00pm. The ballet has something for everyone…a delightful party scene, a suspenseful battle between mice and soldiers and the wonderful fantasy of the Land of Sweets. Debuting new choreography and staging for 2018, Nutcracker in a Nutshell brings the classic Nutcracker story to life in a refreshing, new way. This year, we will be featuring guest dancers as Drosselmeyer and our Nutcracker Prince, and for the 4th year in a row, we are collaborating with Cirque Louis and will perform a silk aerialist routine in our second act. Enjoy the tradition of Nutcracker in a Nutshell while experiencing the excitement of the new production! Nutcracker in a Nutshell performance is on Saturday, December 1st at 2:00 pm. This FREE family event will put you in the holiday spirit! Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve will serve complimentary chili, hot dogs and hot chocolate. Visitors may shop at the artisans and gift booths inside the HEATED tent, kids can enjoy crafts inside the Nature Center, and everyone can take a ride on the hayride. From 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. enjoy being serenaded with live music by the St. John Bell Choir and Thomas McShane from Hewn from the Mountain Music Cafe. From 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus make a stop to greet the children, take photos and hand out treat bags to the first 200 children in line!
