Nutcracker in a Nutshell Review
My recently turned 5 year old daughter, Susie, loves all things dance especially ballet, and has since she was 2. Playing and watching Angelina Ballerina is a daily occurrence in our house, so I knew that she would love the story of The Nutcracker. I was however concerned about her ability to sit through a several hour production. I mean she is in fact only 5.
I was recently given the opportunity to watch a magical and exciting rendition of The Nutcracker, playing at The Louisville Palace this holiday season entitled Nutcracker in a Nutshell. Nutcracker in a Nutshell has been coined as, “a shorter, family and child friendly, version of the Nutcracker ballet.” I knew it would be perfect for Susie and I to enjoy.
Susie was so excited to go to the theater. She wanted to wear her special Christmas dress.
Nutcracker in a Nutshell has been on stage for seven years, and it shows. Everything about the ballet from the costumes, dancing, music, and scenery was beautifully done. I love the Louisville Palace as a venue. The Palace contains such beautiful architecture and history I was happy to be able to share some of that with my girls. Susie thoroughly enjoyed watching the dancers dance, and was very excited when she saw that some of them were her age.
Susie was completely enthralled with Nutcracker in a Nutshell. Susie has fallen in love with the story of Clara and the Nutcracker prince, and wanting to ask Santa for a Nutcracker doll. I hope Nutcracker in a Nutshell continues to return for years to come. We will definitely be one of the first people in line to buy our tickets and take part in this wonderful holiday tradition.
Nutcracker in a Nutshell performances are Saturday, December 6th at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Ticket prices for the production are $20.00 and $17.50. Information on the show, photo galleries from past productions and ticket information is available at either Nutcracker in a Nutshell website here: www.nutcrackerinanutshell.com or through the Louisville Palace here: www.louisvillepalace.com. There is a service fee per ticket online (louisvillpalace.com, livenation.com and ticketmaster.com). It is $9, so we suggest going straight to the Louisville Palace Box Office downtown at 625 S. 4th Street to purchase in person as then you only pay a $2 per ticket service fee.
