Nutcracker in a Nutshell Review
My daughter and I had the opportunity to attend Nutcracker in a Nutshell and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! The performances take place at the Louisville Palace, which is a beautiful venue. My daughter loved looking at the statues and and decor as we waited for the show to begin. Presented by MAGIC (Making Art Grow In Children) the Nutcracker in a Nutshell is a shorter, family and child friendly version of the classic holiday tradition, the Nutcracker.
On the night before Christmas, the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer presents a magical Nutcracker to Clara. Join the fun as he comes to life. Watch as they battle the Mouse King on their journey to the Land of the Sweets. With spell-binding dancing, Nutcracker in a Nutshell provides an opportunity to enjoy some of our area’s best young dance talents!
My daughter's favorite parts of the show were the dancers using the aerial silks to do acrobatics during the Land of the Sweet and the classic Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy with the ballerinas. As a parent, I really liked that my daughter could experience the Nutcracker story in a shortened version that was kid-friendly. The full version of The Nutcracker can be too lengthy for children, and even some adults.
Two of the cast members were even available after the performance to get a quick picture with which was a nice touch that my daughter was excited about!
Comprised of dancers age six and up, MAGIC is a pre-professional, non-profit dance company formed to develop, expand and promote dance education and performance opportunities for children in our community. It is the vision of MAGIC to educate while entertaining our community.
I highly recommend Nutcracker in a Nutshell for all families! It is a great addition to the holiday season and will be sure to delight the little ones (and big ones) in your life! Make sure to get your tickets for the December 5th 2pm or December 5th 7pm performance of Nutcracker in a Nutshell at the Louisville Palace. The ballet has something for everyone…a delightful party scene, a suspenseful battle between mice and soldiers and the wonderful fantasy of the Land of Sweets. You’re sure to enjoy the performance! Ticket prices are $20.00 for adults and ONLY $12.50 for children/teens (age 18 & under) and are available through www.louisvillepalace.com or you can call The Palace Box Office at 502.583.4555 for more information.
