Derby Dinner Playhouse opened ONCE UPON A SNOWFLAKE this past weekend as part of their Children’s b2ap3_thumbnail_Once-Upon-A-Snowflake-Photo.jpgMusical Theatre Series. It was such a cute show! As with every children’s theater show, you get to start your experience off with a yummy breakfast or lunch!  For the holiday show, Santa and Mrs. Claus also come around to every table to take photos with the children!

ONCE UPON A SNOWFLAKE is a world premiere musical about a little snow girl with big dreams!  Ella, played by Leslie Spitznagel lives with her Grandpa, played by David Myers in Christmastown, and with the first snowfall of winter she creates Sarah the Snow Girl.  Marina Hart plays Sarah and my kids loved her character!  She doesn’t have the fanciest hat or buttons, but she is made with love and wants to be the best snowperson she can be.  Sarah soon learns all about the upcoming Supreme Snowman contest where Santa picks the Snowperson with the most Christmas spirit.  She doesn’t think she has a chance, as she is definitely the snowperson with the least “bling”.  But what Sarah lacks in flash, she more than makes up for in heart!  In this hilarious musical, Sarah the Snow Girl helps a fellow snowman, motivates the ridiculous reindeer, and even sacrifices her chances of winning the contest to help Ella and her Grandpa when they are in need.  This show has a wonderful message for kids and is educational and fun!

ONCE UPON A SNOWFLAKE is under the direction of Tina Jo Wallace.  The cast also includes Lem Jackson, Bill Hanna and Brittany Carricato Cox.  The book and lyrics for this production were written by Tina Jo Wallace and the music was composed by Scott Bradley.  Musical numbers featured are AThe Storm”, “Santa’s Supreme Snowman”, “Hope”, and more!

All public performances of ONCE UPON A SNOWFLAKE are on Saturdays with Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. and Lunch at 12:00 p.m.  A Breakfast & Lunch performance has also been added on Friday - November 25 and Monday – December 19.  All performances feature a kid friendly menu.  This production is most suitable for ages 3 - 12.  Santa will be at every public performance and will visit every table!

Additional public performances run November 25, 26, December 3, 10, 17, 19, 2016.  For ticket information please call 812-288-8281 or visit www.derbydinner.com.
