My daughter and I had the pleasure of attending the Children's Tea with the Derby Festival Princesses on April 28, 2013. We checked in and received our schedule for the afternoon, as well as a goodie bag that contained princess items such as a feather boa, wand, sunglasses, notepad, bracelets, some candies, Alice in Wonderland book, and a few other assorted items.

There were four different "Royal Appointments" that the girls rotated through, the order of which depended on what color schedule card you were given at the beginning. My daughter started at the "Fair of Face" room. Stations were set up to get glittery nail art, lip gloss, and blush applied to each girl. Once the little girls had visited all of these stations, they were able to pose with some of the princesses for photos and watch a magician perform tricks.

The next stop on my daughter's schedule was "Royal Crafts". Each girl got to make a bookmark and teapot picture frame to take home. They had all of the materials at each seat, which made it easy to complete and decorate. My daughter loved picking out the stickers to put on her crafts to take home!

Our third appointment was "Style and Grace", where little girls participated in a modeling class and learned how to walk down a runway in style. The final station before the tea party was "Princess Portrait". On one side of the room there was a princesses was reading a story and the other contained the Royal Court and photographers. My daughter had the opportunity to meet and get pictures with all of the Derby Festival Princesses during this time. Two of the Derby Festival Princesses were set up at backdrops with professional photographers. At the end of the tea party, we were able to pick up our copies of these photos that were included.

Finally, it was time for the big event! You could tell all of the little (and big) princesses in attendance were ready for the tea party to begin! We found our assigned table and made friends with our tablemates before enjoying the yummy treats on our table. Our plates included fruit, tea sandwiches, and a muffin. The adults had a fruit tart and the little girls had a small bowl of Teddy Grahams for dessert. We were offered pink lemonade or tea served in our fancy tea cups to enjoy as well. After eating and socializing, they called up the little girls by tables to walk down the big runway in the center of the room. Each little princess was presented with a tiara right before having her name announced and making her big debut. It was a perfect ending to the afternoon and everyone seemed to have a fun time!

The Children's Tea with the Kentucky Derby Festival Princesses is an annual event coordinated by The Fillies, Inc. organization. I would suggest that this event is best suited for girls ages 4-10 and I highly recommend this experience for the little princess in your life.
