The Galt House Hotel - Mother's Day Brunch Review
Mother’s Day is all about mom and making sure that she gets pampered! I was beyond excited to learn that we were heading to the Galt House Hotel this past Mother’s Day for their Brunch in the Archibald Cochran Ballroom, because that meant I didn’t have to cook, or clean up the mess afterwards! With two boys in the house under the age of 7 you can only imagine how messy my kitchen can get!
We arrived at the Galt House around 11:00 am, found an easy parking spot in the garage under the Rivue tower and went right to the third floor ballroom. They had our table ready and waiting and even had high chairs to accommodate the smallest kids. Just walking into the ballroom took my breath away! There were so many gorgeous decorations and food every way you turned! In the center of the room was a large buffet set up with colorful spring bamboo umbrellas adorning a gazebo like structure. This enormous spread had two sides so no one had to wait to get to the good stuff! Once you got a plate, you could choose from such wonderful entrees as Sun-Dried Tomato and Spinach Quiche, Sweet n Sour Shrimp and Salmon, Glazed chicken, Herb-encrusted Pork loin with caramelized sweet onions, tender beef tips and mushrooms, lemon-basil scrod on wilted spinach, Au Gratin potatoes, and so much more. There was a salad and pasta bar towards the end of the buffet. One could easily have more of a breakfast plate or a lunch plate with the variety of choices! Or, you could sample it all!
Two corners of the room had omelet and Belgian waffle stations. You could go up and request that they make you any sort of omelet or egg dish, and could also order a hot waffle where they had toppings ranging from strawberries and whip cream to hot maple syrup and more!
On two sides of the room were large fruit and dessert tables. These were set up with platters overflowing with every sort of fruit imaginable, my kids loved the Star Fruit. Surrounding that were individual portions of every cake, pie, cookie and cheesecake one could ever think to hope for! You could again sample them all or try just one or two! There was no limit!
As if that wasn’t enough of the “sweet stuff", two corners of the room had chocolate fountains and all sorts of yummy items you could dip in the chocolate! One was white and one was dark.
The servers were right there, waiting and ready. They brought us an array of beverages and tended to the needs of the kids well, even offering up plastic cups with lids and several juice and milk choices. The biggest thing I noticed about everyone on the Galt House staff was that they all went out of their way to say Happy Mother’s Day to me! It was so nice! From the hostess to our server, to the chef who served me some roast beef, they all said it with a smile! They all talked with and interacted with my children, instead of acting like it was an inconvenience to have them at such a nice affair!
After our meal was over, we strolled into an adjoining room where they had set up an “indoor garden room.” It was decorated beautifully with trees, flowers, small bridges, benches, lots of spring themed backdrops, water fountains, sparkling butterflies and bees hanging from the ceiling and more! It provided a wonderful way to get a few nice photos while we are all dressed up and the kids loved looking at all of the scenery!
Tickets were $35 per adult and $14 per child, ages 4-10. All children 3 and under were free. This price was so very much worth the value of everything included and the experience.
