THE GRINCH is coming to steal Christmas in Louisville!
Broadway’s #1 Holiday hit comes to The Kentucky Center November 28-December 3
PNC Broadway in Louisville is proud to present the Louisville premiere of Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical at The Kentucky Center from November 28 to December 3, 2017. I took the kids to see the show last night and it was simply phenomenal.
Audiences will discover the magic of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday tale as it comes to life live on stage. Featuring the hit songs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas,” THE GRINCH discovers there’s more to Christmas than he bargained for in this heart-warming holiday classic. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming GRINCH, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the holiday-loving Whos. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical features magnificent sets designed by John Lee Beatty and costumes designed by Robert Morgan, inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original book.
Philip Bryan, as the Grinch, whisks you away to this storybook land, and you really love him as the Grinch from the get-go. His amazing vocal talent and character attributes are spot-on. The stamina he has to make it straight through a 90 minute show in the costume he dons amazes me too! Though he towers above nearly every other person on stage and even speaks to the children in the audience in a gruff voice at times, his heart is the biggest of all that shines through and his perfection of this well-known holiday icon leaves you wanting to see more!
Both Bob Lauder, as Old Mac, and Andrea Wyder, as Young Max, do a wonderful job of narrating the story and making the children laugh. Something about adding in the pet aspect makes any show more endearing. Avery Sell stands out as the tiny little Cindy-Lou Who and she is so bubbly and cute. All of the Whos are simply contagious in their nature and the costumes and scenery play into all of that too!
Hailed by The New York Times as “100 times better than any bedside story,” this classic holiday musical will enchant adults and children alike.
