My husband and I love the theatre and both of us have participated in community and college productions in our lives before children, so we want to share theatre experiences with our children. However, my elder son is a busy child who has to move constantly. He has to process things by blurting out what he’s thinking about what he sees and hears, and not often quietly. Centerstage Theatre of Louisville opens the second musical of their new season next Thursday!  This time around they will be Paintin' the Town and All That Jazz with Chicago.  Chicago is a Tony Award-winning play and Oscar-winning movie. I had the pleasure of seeing Derby Dinner Playhouse’s newest musical last week and highly recommend it!   Now onstage is the ALL NEW musical comedy A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR BASEMENT, a great follow-up show to the popular Church Basement Ladies that the Playhouse previously presented.  In this newest installment, the church basement ladies are cookin’ again with new songs and more lessons reluctantly learned through the hilarious antics and down-to-earth charm.  Its 1960 and a Reformation is underway. CenterStage, the oldest continuously operating theatre in Kentucky, kicked off its 100th Season last night with the Broadway hit, Spring Awakening.  In this rousing musical, a group of pubescent students navigate the anxieties of coming-of-age in a provincial world as their budding sexuality unfolds from youthful lust to tragic consequences. It is ultimately a timeless portrayal of the issues teens have faced throughout generations and the ongoing communication, or the lack thereof, between parents and their children.
